Amazing camerawork

I've been a massive fan of Kassovitz ever since watching LA HAINE at university.

His camerawork in this film was outstanding.

A list of the shots I liked:

1) The opening credits, swinging around the corpse

2) Pierre (Reno) arriving in the car in a great swooping helicopter shot

3) The Vertigo style helicopter entry into the morgue at the start

4) Max (Cassel) intro, walking straight into camera with the awesome hiphop soundtrack blazing (loved his combats and trainers too!)

5) Max walking up to Sertys apartment, the long crane around. Brilliant

6) The final baffling shot where the camera seems to be craning but then the helicopter flies underneath and then a zoom out to show they are on a mountain top. Still don't get this shot.

Amazing work

I agree. This is one of the most beautifully photographed movies I've ever seen. The swooping expansive camera work of the opening scene is a good indicator of what's to come visually.

For this American, the story was very hard to follow. I often didn't know what was happening on screen. A European audience probably would have understood more.

I agree that this movie's camerawork is stunning.

But regarding the plot, rest assured that European audiences didn't get it either.
Those who got it were the ones who had read beforehand the novel the movie is based on.

Amazing work
Not to forget the glacier and cavern sequences.
