re-make

i read that there was going to be a remake of this film is it true? It will suck if it is because it's an ok film and i'm feed up with all the remakes, can't the american directors think of their own movies

He *beep* me. I'm truly ass invaded!

reply

I haven't heard anything and I sure hope it will not happen. Most (american) remakes suck. Have the screen writers run out of ideas or why are the producers so eager to do remakes??!

Action is the enemy of thought

reply

There already is an American remake. I havent seen it but i did really enjoy the French version simply because i love Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel.

I think the American version is called Crimson Rivers too.

reply

Actually, it's a sequel. Not a remake.

reply

the sequel is called Les Rivieres Pourpres II: Les anges de l'apocalypse

reply

yes...but it is not a remake, because it is still a french movie...

reply

I hope they don't remake this as well. I'm already annoyed at the fact that the americans feel they have to remake the german movie "The Edukators"

reply

So glad you all agree! American movies (for the most part) are pure unoriginal *beep* Everything that's playing now is either a sequel or a re-make (of a TV show from the 70's or of a foreign film). American producers/directors/oh hell, Hollywood in general are blithering idiots.

Cheers!

Actually, Crimson Rivers is a loosely based remake of the AMERICAN film "Se7en", with some references to the book. This is most obvious during the centerpiece of the film when they are chasing the suspect from the eye doctors murder, complete with the hard-falling rain and the suspect trapping the Jean Reno and having him helpless and at mercy at gunpoint, just like they did with Pitt in Se7en.

So, wow, all you Euro's look like aholes now.

Wrong. The movie is the adaption of this book:

It may be a bit like "Seven", but that's a coincidence.

Se7en was a very influential film, but this movie is really nothing at all like it and has a completely different plot line and feel to it.

9 years later and no Hollywood remake so far, thank goodness. I liked the original and the sequel to some extent. No need for crappy remakes, thank you.
