Street Fighter scene

I love how halfway through the movie Vincent Cassel gets into a kickboxing fight with the skinheads. It's like the movie goes from serious and sober investigative thriller to a beat-em-up level from Street Fighter. Even the music sounded like a computer game from the nineties.

So out of place with the rest of the film it was almost comedic.

Did Vincent Cassel just want to have a fight scene in this movie and Kassovitz just wrote one in for him? Probably. And they made them evil nazi guys so we could enjoy them getting thrashed and not question its relevance to the plot. Of which it had none.

The movie was okay. I think it came on the back end of the international success of Se7en but it was decent enough. There are far better French thrillers. Some even starring these two guys respectively.

But this "fight" scene was completely out of place and totally unnecessary. It was like it had come from another film altogether.

Interesting fact here actually: I saw some behind the scenes footage from the making of Crimson Rivers and while they were shooting this fight scene, Kassovitz was playing the computer game STREET FIGHTER between takes!

I guess he did take inspiration from the game for this scene.

Explains why it is so random and silly.

Yeah the movie was just alright but that fight scene had me laughing loudly. It's so over the top.

Actually, I think it was Tekken 3 :) But yes, it is a bit goofy scene. Awesome film, nevertheless!
