I watched it this movie on TV the other day and really enjoyed it! I found it to be very similar to Se7en, one of my personal favourites. Are there any more of these kind of movies? I guess what I'm looking for is a cop drama with a sinister atmosphere of dread.

And with your explanation about the story, I dont know if you mean Seven or Bone Collector or LRP......In all the movies you have a killer with "ritualistic" methods, who leaves traces to expose someone or something (being Denzel, or the baby-swaps, or the nature of humans)
I would recommend him to watch TWIN PEAKS (the first season and half is almost flawless)
You have also a movie "Fire Walk With Me", and people say you can watch it without seeing the serial, but you will lose too much this way, its better to watch the serial, learn who is the killer, and then watch that movie, in order to know why of some character's motivations.
