The look she gave her husband...SPOILERS

There were two bad scenes in this movie, The fist one was the fight they have in the beginning of the film the second was the look she gave her husband seeing him for the fist time after the rescue.

The first one was poorly written and tried to make it seem as if there marriage was really rocky and maybe the love was already gone. I get this, but anyone can tell there needed to be some tension between them on something to get in between them to make a love story work. By the way i felt he was right and it was time they try and moved on from there tragedy. It felt forced.

Could they have written something more believable, it made the love story come off as phoney because he [husband]was basically a good and courageous guy.

The look she gave the husband the fist time she saw him after the kidnapping [witch made her look/seem horrible] in some eyes was to separate them in the end so she could wonder about loosing her new guy she had become to care for.

By this time the love story started to fail to the viewer as the rescuer had to nearly say, hey you are ignoring your husband and there will be no us. She sure as heck was not likable in her treatment of him at that point.

The character [meg]does recover when they [husband]look in each others eyes and hold hands as she began to come to her senses as the film ends. This was David Morse best scene ever as he waited for her to return to him and all but say you are forgiven.

I think Meg Ryan was the weak link, maybe that had something to do with the offscreen goings-on, but for the most part I agree with you.

I do think there is something compelling in the idea of the husband maybe realizing that his wife had an affair with the guy that saved his life.... But that was regulated to a few glances, a kiss, and a goodbye, and what was seen in the film wouldn't really justify any action from either wife or husband.

Without Russell and Meg falling in love onscreen, it kind of nueters his character as well. Did he leave his company to be with her or to help her or both? Was it for love or was it because it was the right thing to do?

There's so many little moments that could've had big emotional weight had the two leads had a relationship, that is missing from the film as we know it.

Had Meg Ryan not been cast we may have had those moments, but then again, who knows?
