I thought the movie was incredible

I only started to see this movie from the part the baby tree is eating its mothers hair. it was still one of the best movies ive seen in a long time. Even though it had a rather unhappy ending.

True, the girl was annoying, but she recognized that although the tree stump was a lethal threat, she could feel its hopelessness and inevitability. My least favorite character of Otesanek would have to be the girls father. His indifference and lack of sympathy for anything but himself made him, I felt, a very negative character.

One of the other things that struck me in this film was that the girl was willing and had the capability to charm the lechy man to her, so she could have him eaten. "you speak of the devil, the devil arrives" to the young girl, the old man was the devil. The second time when the father of the baby tree came down there I think she believed it was his responsibility to do something about the matter. She didint want to see the old lady chop up the monster, because she felt that she would become into the old lady working there in the future.

But it was still a very interesting movie. It was kind of like The Thing. an organic, yet plant-like, monster that lives to consume, without any pity or remorse. Loved and afraid of those that created it, yet oblivious and unmindful that thing is killing their fellow neighbors where they live.

I thought it was an incredible film. Im glad I saw it. and im going to see it again.

It was one weird film, but I did like it. I thought the little girl was a riot when she would be reading those books about sex and seeing her father's reaction was classic. As for the tree stump baby-it could have been better special effects.

LOL you idiot, its a Svankmajer film, the effects are SUPPOSED to be like that.

I caught it about 40 minutes into it when the mother is breast-feeding the stump. I would like to see the first 40 minutes, but I thought the film was really incredible.

I won't say I thought the "special effects" were lacking. I'd say the animation was great! I think there is distinct difference and thought they did a great job between the drawn animation and the animation of the stump.

The girl was a riot and the family as a whole were just great! I thought they handled the ending really well too.

OK, I'm no movie scholar, suffice to say I really enjoyed it and was glad to have seen at least most of it!

There were no likeable characters in this movie, and the woman who desperately wanted to be a mother could have adopted a real human child with her husband instead of adopting and continuing to harbor and enable a murderous monster. I thought adoption (of a real human baby) would be an obvious choice in a situation like this, and that felt like a major plot hole to me.

I agree with Aizyk, but it's easy to say in hindsight, "Oh, we should've adopted a HUMAN baby instead of raising up this murderous tree baby." People make mistakes. That why it's called "life" and not "always solve your problems by adopting human babies."

I HATE MOVIES!!!!

"sort of like how Pinnochio became a REAL LIVE boy?"

Well yeah, in a way it was kind of like a nasty Pinocchio.
