I liked it.

I didn't read bad reviews going in. Of course I didn't read good reviews going in either. I didn't follow any review to this movie. I simply saw it on Misha's credits list, read the plot, and thought "Hmm. Could be interesting."

Don't even need to discuss Misha's character Dave. He was a good character. I was rooting for him, but secretly (as the film intended) suspicious of his role in Amanda's last day with her Grandmother. He made nice wood carvings. Yeah.

Lisa Brenner as Amanda, the lead, caused me some slight irritation sometimes. It felt like she struggled to portray more than just basic emotions in some scenes, scenes that could have benefited from an expression of more complex emotional states. She wasn't terrible though, and if you were to call her the weak link, it should tell you how good the general quality of actors was.

I thought the story was good. It was a little slow to start, but the payout is worth it, I think, if you stick with the film to the end. The film does a good job of getting you more and more engaged in "the big secret" of Amanda's past. At the beginning, I was like "Whatever. We'll find out." By the middle I was like "Enough with beating around the bush. Tell us what happened! I need to know!" One of the things I liked about the movie was the method of doing "reveals". They weren't the typical grand fare, love declarations, ardent speeches, etc etc. They just let the events build naturally, which sometimes meant quiet moments rather than loud. It was just a nice change of pace, that's all.

Honestly, I liked it. There were moments when I felt a little bored, but there were just as equally moments (likely more of these, even) when I was really enjoying the story.

If you interested in seeing the movie, just see it. Don't worry about the reviews, and just watch it.

Just finished watching it and I agree with everything you said. It did move a bit slow but not enough to hit delete on the DVD drive and go on to something else.

I'm glad I did finish it as it has left me smiling and happy. I like that feeling.

If you remember: what is the relationship of "Aunt" Katie to the others? Somehow I missed that.

Thanks!!
