It may be because I come from Liverpool but....

Has anyone else noticed when Robert Carlyle goes singing in the Manchester pub, he's actually still in Liverpool because of the purple coloured bins? I know it sounds a little stupid, but it definetly wasn't a Manchester pub, because when he runs outside the wheelie bin gives it away. It may just be a Liverpool thing... but if there's any liverpudlians out there or even anyone from Manchester that can see this too please post :)

well i cant think of a manchester pub that would let them film a scene like that, but a liverpool pub might be more willing.

there are some purple bins in manchester.

Interesting point. Maybe you should put it under the goofs for this film.

The pub they were in was called The Yew Tree and it is in Liverpool.

Yes the pub is the Yew Tree on the corner of Haydn Road (the street sign is visible in the film) and Finch Lane in West Derby, Liverpool L14.

It could easily have been filmed in any run-down pub in the country who needed the money (including Manchester) but I guess it kept the cost down by shooting in Liverpool.
