The soundtrack

Hi to everybody,
I'm from Italy, and discovered this movie just by chance...it's a happy story, and it's supported by great music!

I would like to know if somebody knows the title and author of the song which surrounds the trailer of the movie. The song can be heard as well when Raymond first comes to the beach in Rio, and walks-dances on the sand.

Thanks, bye
Filippo

Wish I could tell you: I love that one, too. Isn't there a soundtrack available for this movie? I'm not seeing one. *disappointed*

reply

There is a soundtrack, but it's the soundtrack as in the music composed for the film, it doesn't contain the music used in the film by other artists.

The music can be downloaded from Amazon, which lets you sample a snippet of the tracks.

I have submitted the song list to IMDB, they'll include it sooner or later. Not that it looks like anyone ever checks this IMDB page.

Did you have any luck finding the soundtrack?

reply

No *beep* Well I found that the soundtrack is by Roque Banos, so now I'm trying to finding and download it from emule...we'll see if in the soundtrack there's that song I'm looking for...

reply

The song is by a Brazilian band called TERRA SAMBA and the track is "Liberar Geral". It's a live version and it really kicks. Glad you like it. As for the soundtrack, I have no idea whether it's been released. Try a Spanish site because the production company (lola films) operate out of Madrid.

reply

Thank you so much! I'll try to find it out! In the meantime I found the soundtrack is by Roque Banos "The girl from Rio soundtrack".

---Does anyone know what the song was that played in that great scene when Hugh Laurie's character daydreams about dancing with the girl in the beautiful red dress (when he's at the bank)? I think it starts with acoustic guitar and has a female singer. Been humming a snippit of it all day. Tried to hunt it down but to no avail. Would appreciate any help......
---That's one feature I wish IMDB had, a full soundtrack listing for each movie listed. I can't count how many times I've gone crazy trying to track down songs I've liked.

I've been looking for the soundtrack everywhere, as well as "silencio" by Adriana Maciel. I can't find a place to buy the soundtrack and, alas Maciel's song isn't on any of her two CDs, just the soundtrack. Do you know where to get the sound track online? Spanish Sites? Thanks. ed

reply

I could only download "Liberar Geral" of Terra Samba. If you send me a private email I could place it on my webspace and send you the instruction to download it. Otherwise you can try to find it trough peer to peer networks, emule or kazaa...

I have a friend who is also searching high and low for the song "Silencio", by Adriana Maciel. If anyone can offer some help or suggestions, that would be fantastic! Would love to surprise him with it!

reply

hi does anyone know the name of the last song of the movie? the live song, it is awesome.

reply

It's by Terra Samba and it's called "Liberal Geral". Other tracks in the movie are two versions of "Jack Soul Brasileria" - one by Lenine, the other by Fernando Abreu. There are two tracks by Marisa Monte, "Panis et Circenses' and 'Magamalambres'. Two tracks from the great 'Tropicalia' collection 'Bat Macumba' and 'Procissao'. Other tracks include Paulinho Mosha's 'Paixo' and Adriana Maciel's 'Silencio' (which is the track that plays when Raymond imagines her dancing in the bank.)

reply

Hi - I am trying to find a downloadable 'Silencio' - any ideas anyone please?

reply

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to find "Silencio". I've been looking for 2 years. I even looked for it while I was in Rio. If anyone finds it, please please please please tell me.

You might be able to get the soundtrack on a Spanish site, but I feel like a site in Portuguese would be better since the song is in Portuguese.

I listened to the opening credits and throughout the film there are little snippets of what sounds like the theme from the Gary Cooper/Grace Kelly classic, "High Noon". Please tell me if this doesn't sound like "Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, On this our Wedding Day" - it keeps with the plot of the movie anyway.

I bought the dvd and watched the film this morning. It is really cute and Hugh Laurie is terrific whether it be in a comic or serious role in the film. This film had not been available for quite some time, but with Hugh's popularity on House, this has entered the buyer's market again.

Good fun and can Hugh dance the Samba? You'd better believe he does one heck of a job with it. Natural born talent.

Check this one out.
