What the HELL is Robert Rodriguez doing?

OMG what the *beep* happened. Why oh why did you make this *beep* film? This was a complete waste of your talent :(

Relax. Every great director likes doing kiddy movies every now and then. Besides, this was before Sin City and Planet Terror. His career was already *beep* before Spy Kids.

You're pretty self centered, just because a guy chooses to focus on making movies for children doesn't mean he's wasting his talent. Why should he have to make movies that appeal solely to people like you.

This is not a bad movie. It was aimed at kids, so maybe the adult fans of Desperado, Sin City or The Faculty can enjoy this movie as much as the others.

I, myself, love the first one, and had no problem liking the second one. The third one even had it's moments.

Not my favorite Rodriguez movies, but I defenatly like to watch them just like all of his other movies.

OMG he made a sh#t load of money! why oh why did you watch it then

reply

I thought it was cute before I knew it was his. Though I kinda figured it was his when I saw the character "Machete"

It's good that he can do something other then his usual style.

I don't want to fit in, I just don't want to stand out.

reply

LOL exactly what i tought when i learned he directed this :s

Kubrickian.

reply

I agree.

Kids don't care what they watch.

As long as it's got something slightly amusing.

reply

Then why exactly do some kids movies gross more than others?

This shows how much of a good director he is. His style is universal. Spy Kids has alot of the snazzy tactics he deployed in Once Upon A Time In Mexico

This movie, in fact all of Rodriguez's films aimed at kids, are an insult to children everywhere. Just because they aren't old enough to care how much money was wasted in seeing a movie doesn't mean you can take all the shortcuts in storytelling and filmmaking.
There are intelligent, compelling movies aimed exclusively at kids. Then there are movies like this that standardise stupidity in our youths while abandoning the central focus of cinema; the telling of a good story. There's noone here that can say that the telling of a good story is achieved in this movie. The whole point of creative adults making kids movies is so that it appeals to kids, but doesn't feel like it was made by kids.

This movie feels like it was made, or at least written, by a child.
