So what exactly does one do with a Sceptre?

Once you steal it, who do you sell it to? Wouldn't there be a lot of heat on it? The same goes with any general theft of antiques, paintings, etc. Who would even want to buy hot stolen art, erratic powerful old wealthy folks?

Unless they extract all the studded stones, sell those individually and then sell the gold in some different form hmm.

I guess very often thieves don't "steal" a piece of art, they "kidnap" it, to sell it back to the owner or the insurance company.

I could also imagine somebody buying a stolen piece of art (maybe he even ordered this particular piece to be stolen) just for his own private pleasure without showing it to anybody.

i've ALWAYS wondered the same thing....like when someone gets something super expensive stolen from them, i would think they would invest a lot of resources into getting it back. anytime i hear about some big heist of some sort in the news, i always wonder how it plays out in the long run.

Somebody, even a rich mucky mucky type would buy it off the black market.

The thief doesn't actually worry about the selling, or who the customer is (as is the case with this movie, there is usually a customer before the heist is even planned - in fact the customer is usually the reason the heist is even taking place at all). The job of making the sale is usually left up to a Fence.

I thought maybe the Knights Templar wanted it for their private collection.

Objection, your Honor. You can't preface your second point with first of all.
