Social significance of Clones

Obviously this movie uses the subject of clones and cloning, hence the title, but I was thinking, "what does everyone else think of clones?" There becoming more and more involved in movies and usually there is something bad about them, whether they are just seen as unnatural or are actually evil.
So I ask you all in this ether of IMDB, "what do you think of clones as pertains to their roles in movies?" Are we needlessly discriminating against them or do they just deserve it?
Please discuss amongst yourselves.

I think progress in cloning is hindered by superstition (read religion) and lack of willingness to take risks. it's to the point that any major advances will be made by rogues using questionable or outright unethical methods. Government funded avenues are too limiting for significant advancement or closed because of political pressures.

Any kind of progress has never been all pretty with no mistakes, screw-ups or bad turns. The path to cloning won't be perfect either. People should know, expect and have a tolerance for it when things go wrong.

Religion and Luddites should not be setting or majorly influencing scientific policy. Didn't we learn anything from the Galileo fiasco?

If adults at the age of consent willingly agree to participate in human cloning, they should be able. It should be overseen by an ethics group to confirm the research stays within bounds, such as not tricking unknowledgeable people into participating. Or forcing poor people to participate against their will.

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.
