Quadruped gap

Call me an idiot but what is the joke here? The phrase pops up a couple times in the movie but I don't get what it's referencing. Anybody know?

I have assumed that Quadruped Gap is a wordplay refering to the retail chain Gap and its variations, such as babyGap, GapKids, and GapMaternity.
