What happened? SPOILERS

I was expecting more threads, but anyway. I just saw this movie tonight and I caught it at the very end when Deborah Cox walked into the bathroom and splashed water onto her face, then I picked back up watching it when the mom was holding the butcher's knife up at the dad, but didn't whack him with it. I would've thought he would've been happy, but then he smacked her and the son picked it up and whacked him and killed him....Now, I'm under the impression that the dad wanted to be whacked, but can't understand why..does anybody who watched and comprehended the whole movie want to tell me and put me out of my misery?

I'm having a bit of a problem with that too. Like seriously he just sat there and let his kid hack him up with a machete? And why? I just don't get it. Yea he smacked her around but jeez...I didn't get the whole "kill leon" part. Seemed like they all loved each other and were a family. Ugh. Im confused.

Throughout the entire film, Leon and the mother had a back and forth relationship. He would smack her around and then kiss her and apologize. He would hit her, and then let her him back afterwards...this was his way of letting her get even. So the final time he hit her, she snapped and picked up his machete but I guess she didn't have the nerve to do it so she slammed it on the table instead. He got upset and smacked her yet again. Neville had seen his mother get slapped one too many times, and so he picked up the machete and was about to kill his father. But Matthew took it from him, and he did it instead. (One of the themes throughout the film was how they always looked out for each other. One time when Leon tried to make Matthew smoke weed and he refused, Leon started slapping him in the face. When Neville saw his brother being abused, he smoked the weed instead to distract his father from hitting his brother). The mother made them so it was her, and that's why she's in prison.

Hope this helped!

I don't think he wanted it. I just dont think he believed they would do it.

What I don't understand is why she took the blame. He was in middle of abusing her, the sons thought they were defending her. if the son took the blame --at 11 or 12 years old he'd be out of prison by 21. she on the other hand could spend 20 or so or even life.

interesting movie. boring. but interesting.
