To all the reviewers who are so offended by the narration, did it ever occur to you that it was *supposed* to be offensive, but not meant to be taken seriously? FACES OF GORE is like South Park meets FACES OF DEATH. Anybody who believes the narrator is actually *serious* about the sick things he says is an idiot!!! LOL

A lot of people, I imagine, though most won't come out and admit it. Public executions used to be very well-attended throughout history, having a carnival, even Christmas-like atmosphere, where children would stay up all night in hopes of watching people die in a variety of gruesome ways (hanging, drowning, dismemberment, beheading, etc.). Maybe you think people have changed since those days (which weren't all that long ago), but how then do you explain all the rubberneckers clogging up traffic hoping to see dead bodies in car wrecks? Do you honestly think people wouldn't tune in by the millions to watch live, televised executions?
People can moralize all they want, but the truth is, these movies wouldn't be made if there weren't plenty of people willing to pay good money to see such grisly fare. The same goes for pornography or anything else some consider offensive. People want it, people buy it, and the controversy and/or guilty pleasure associated with enjoying it means it will continue to be made long after we're gone.
As to Faces of Gore specifically, the narration was SUPPOSED to be so over-the-top and ridiculous that it would aliennate many viewers while delighting others who "got" the joke. It's a PARODY of other shockumentaries which go to great pains to take themselves seriously. Not everybody gets that. If you don't share in the film's obviously twisted sense of humor, you're not going to enjoy watching it. Even many shockumentary fans don't "get" it; apparently, they don't have a sense of humor--which might explain why they are drawn to watching real death footage as entertainment in the first place. LOL
Anyway, to each their own.
I don't think there was any "joke" to "get". I think there are two categories: people who are thoroughly disgusted and offended by it, or people who get their rocks off on it. If there is anyone who thinks, "HAHA! I get it! He's being over-the-top to be humorous!" they are few in number.
Even if it is just some sort of "joke", it's a disgusting, filthy, morally corrupt and cruel joke. Anyone who finds the narration "funny" as you describe are just as pathetic as those who get their rocks off on it.
As for the immense number of people you seem to describe who buys this stuff: yes, they're out there, but they are very, VERY few in number. The people who make this crap may make some money off of it only because it's specifically targeted to those few people, and they'll take any offering in this underground sh*thole of cinema.
Real Mondo died with Climati, Morra, and the Castiglionis (maybe even Max Steele and Gabriele Crisanti). Anything modeled after Faces of Death is a crass, offensive sh*tpile.
