Bo trying to get on the NASCAR circuit?

Ok throughout the movie Bo tells his girl that hes trying to get into NASCAR.Well, isnt that a continuity mistake since in the first movie, He WAS a NASCAR driver????

He meant to get back into NASCAR. What a great movie this was
