Am I the only one who liked this film?

I actually thought it was a great watch!
and the zombies FX are way better then the stuff in the re-make of Dawn Of The Dead.

I liked it quite a lot. I am a huge fan of cheesy horror movies, though. Love them.

Oh hell no.. I friggin' loved this film (I especially loved the tribute to Rob Zombie in it).

no way! i just finished re-watching this fun, fright flick and felt the need to check out the page for it here. Only a 3.2??? Really? I love the young, fresh, cast. It's nothing innovative or ground-breaking but it's pretty damn good for such an ultra-low budget film.

Agreed.

I thought it was great too!

.. and the "What would Bruce Campbell do?" line & other subtle horror movie tributes made me like it even more :)

This movie was good, all it was missing was a cameo by the God of shlock Bruce Campbell.

Its so bad its good.

The fact that they make references to other horror movie was just depressing and sad.

In the director voiceover, they list how Argento and Fulci are their inspiration, but their movie is NOTHING like the atmospheric italo-horror/giallo made by those masters. They claim they did this movie in tribute, but there is nothing even close to a scene that is Italian like. Only some cheap emulation at the end (like the rip-off of the Beyond end scene).

I think David Warbeck would sue if he knew they mentioned his name in this movie.

reply

Not in the least. I really enjoyed it. I mean, it was clearly a budget film, but so what? Not every film can have an A-list film's budget and filming schedule. They did the best they could with the resources they had, and it came out pretty well.

I watch this movie pretty regularly. By chance, i just happened to catch it the week after it was released when I rented it from a local, mom-and-pop rental place. As a horror geek, i completely fell in LOVE with it. is it cheesy? Yes. Is the acting over-the-top and awful at at points? Sure. that said, it's a reasonably well thought out film that takes its time, makes you care about and identify with the main characters, and delivers a couple really cool looking zombies. My only gripe (Parker hates this as well) is the super-imposed flames near the end.

In any case, it was made in 10 days for next-to-nothing, and they really delivered in making a cool flik that looks great, sounds great, and has a fun story to it. Thumbs way up from me.

I loved it too. The F/X are good considering how low budget it

Trust no one. And you can trust me on that!

Yeah I thought this one was pretty good also. Haters seem to flock to IMDB

reply

I personally love this movie!
It has more of a classic zombie flick feel to it.. than the crappy so called zombie movies that are being made now.
I also liked that they referenced to the Beyond, at least a filmmaker out there acknowledges Lucio Fulci's work! :D

I was actually in this film (I was the first corpse that Topaz lit up with her cigarette lighter.) I also wrote a behind-the-scenes article about it in Femme Fatales magazine.

It is just conjecture on my part, but I think the people who disliked this movie were bored by the first twenty minutes. They dragged. I wasn't writing or directing the film, but if I were, I would have cut out 50% of the dialogue. I also would have left out the scene in the convenience store (the clerk is the director of The Dead Hate the Living, Dave Parker.) The scene really didn't have to be there, but it did give us a long first look at lovely Jamie Donahue.*

If those people who didn't like the film had stuck it out, they would have found out that the rest of the film was quite good.

I liked this movie, it was a low budget, so people need to put things into perspective and think about it.
Anyway it is a nice B-movie and I felt there was some heart put in it, not like the last crappy blockbusters that satisfied the masses (mostly remakes from good movies into *beep* ones...no hommage in there)

And yes, Jamie Donahue is cute, and she got talent too; she directed the short and hilarious "Billy's Dad Is a *beep*
