Ella's heart attack

Oh man, seriously, I just finished watching this mini-series and Iv'e got to say, I was blown away by it.

When Charles S. Dutton goes through the characters futures in the end I got so depressed, especially over Ella's death. Seriously, she was nothing but good throughout her life. And to think that this really happened. What a blow!

I know every day is a gift...but does it always have to be a pair of socks?

She didn't die in the book though - I think she's still alive. She is great though, I agree.

Why would they lie just to make the ending more depressing? If she died at the end of the miniseries, she must have died in real life.

The miniseries was made years after the book, so obviously she could have died in between the book and the mini.

I have to agree with you. I just finished watching this miniseries and I was blown away as well at the end. So many of the characters in the film have passed on. She was great in the film though, and only wanted to help and do good. This was an amazing film.

That question can be answered easily the book came out in 1997. The miniseries came out in 2000, she died somewhere in between the two..I think 1998, if I remmber correctly.

Yes, she did die. There's a page at the end of the book where you can donate to her charity. She truly was a wonderful person that took a tragedy and turned it into something positive. Whenever they donated that garden to her, her face was just priceless in it's pride. The real Ella would have been proud.
