Should have been a Season instead of a mini

I always wished that the writers/prods could've given us more about Gary & Fran's childhood. Gary was such a good and giving guy but seem to suffer from self-esteem issues, perhaps if the series had dwelved more into his childhood we could get a better understanding. Same with Fran and the death of her sister and issues with her father (thinking in terms of the scene when she was headed for rehab and she saw her father drinking in front of the liquor store but neither acknowledged one another).

There's just so much more that can be told about this story, that six-episodes is just simply not enough. In fact I see at least 2 seasons with exploring the lives of Blue, Curt and some of the others instead of quick flashbacks.

I have to say that I totally agree with you. I wanted to know more about the past lives of some of these characters. The show did show us some of the characters as younger people. But I found myself wanting to know more about the childhoods of the characters. I also think that every high school senior should be required to watch this mini-series. I would not edit one word, or change anything. Young people need to know the truth about drugs and where it can lead. None of this glamorous b.s. The drug addicts in this mini-series are litarally being eaten alive by their addictions. They spend every moment seeking out drugs. They suffer many indignities to get their drugs. There is a show called The Walking Dead. Look at some of these addicts in this series; they are the true Walking Dead.

Great points you made!

I DVR'd the minis so my 14 year old son and I could watch together. He was really taken, watching the real lives of dealers and seeing a huge difference with the glamourized version in movies and music videos. He was taken with watching the decline of Fran, Gary, and co. compared to the lives they had shown in flashbacks.

Totally agree with you that this should be shown in schools. This is real.
