Look it up. The song reached number one in february 1981. The song was released as part of Kool and the gangs album in very late 1980. Thank goodness for the internet. I said the song was in 80. The movie was the 70s. If the song was released early 80 , even than it would be a reach, to put it in this film.
shareIf you watch before the wedding, they show pictures of Reagan's winning the election. That would have been 1980 (he took office 1/20/81). Also, Amy Smart's character mentioned she became a therapist, so time has passed between the time when she came out of the cult brainwashing and the wedding... maybe a year or two.
shareIt would appear that they married at the end of '80, with the footage of Regan running for presidnt so it makes sense.
