who does the one man end up with?

I forget the end, does the guy with the lover and kid and wife end up with the wife or the lover and kid?

SPOILERS!

the last scene we see of those characters involves the man and his wife. he tells her everything and she says that she knew all along, that she had watched the other child grow up through his photographs she had found. she says that he is to leave on his business trip and when he returns, they will start over.

I think she said something along the line she would expect him to return to her and if he does they will start over. Now whether that's what happen or not is left up in the air. So to answer the question, we don't know who he ends up with.

The eldest sister (Suong) "forgives" her husband (Quoc) as she is also guilty of having an affair with another man (Toan), who is most likely her first love. That's why in the movie, she seems to delicately refer to their mother's past with such pain and nostalgia: maybe it mirrors the guilt she is feeling.

Do they end up together? Yes, and most probably. The man, despite the joy of sharing love with the other woman (she must be his first love after all; if you look closely, the child with her is older than the one with his wife), he decides to bring the matter to her.

In the end, Suong puts a condition for both of them to fulfill: that after coming back from his work, she says, "I am your wife. I expect you to love me better than you have loved me. I want to see the same man before we got married." She didn't force him to leave the other woman; she just wanted that he give her more affection. While she does not confess to her own "dangerous liaison" (I think it's a sign of strong character in their family), she visits the other man one last time and leaves. No words needed her. The moment is the closure.

I hope that future viewers of this film won't get distracted by this opinion.

A great scene that, when she tells him this after having collected herself over night. Followed by the two of them sitting together on the floor, with her leaning back into him.

And a fine movie too, this is: 9/10.
