Glengarry Glen Ripoff

This screenwriter is a patheic David Mamet wannabe. Lets add the fact that the director, Greg Mosher, and many of the actors - George Wendt, Ed Harris, J. J. Johnston, etc. - are Mamet veterans - either on stage or screen.

Have you even seen this movie? The only similarity to Glengarry is the presence of Ed Harris and the fact that they are running a telemarketing con.

Glengarry doesn't even feature a single female character, much less an antagonist like Julia Ormond's Caitlin. Nevermind that fact that the scheme Gene and Caitlin pull shares nothing in common with the lead theft of Glengarry... Nor is there any character in this film like Ricky Roma or Blake.

And how can you even begin to compare the dialogue to that of Mamet?

that's exactly the feeling i got, that i got reminded of glengarry glen ross i mean, i'm not saying it's like it, just that it came to my mind as i was watching this. though i doubt they could possibly swear more in this movie.

trying to escape,
the reality of today,
to sunnier times,
magic uncomplicated life,
haven't had a home for years,
drifted off to a state of nowhere,
in a day of hard movement,
drowning in a time of cruelness.

Dialogue has its own cadence, story is completely different from Glengarry.

Only similarities: Ed Harris and the fact that they are skeezy salesmen.

No, not much like it at all.

And Mamet's idea was original? You might want to ask Arthur Miller about that. Mamet is a world class misogynist and possibly a few other disgusting things I would rather not debate on this board. This film for all its flaws only vaguely shares the same subject matter as GGGR. There is nothing new to create, only to reinterpret.

Not a ripoff just because they share some of the same subject matter. Also, even a bad ripoff would be better than this garbage.

PS: If you are an actor and have never done any Mamet material, you had to be trying to avoid it. Everyone is a Mamet "veteran".
