I wonder why he didn't have plastic surgery!

It seemed kind of strange that Kevin Spacey's character didn't have plastic surgery. He might have felt less self-conscious about himself.

Well he's only a teacher.
Maybe he couldn't afford it? Did you see those apartments he lived in?
I doubt he could.

You have a point there.
I tend to forget that teachers are so overpaid here in Connecticut, and have good benefits. I imagine in Nevada it wasn't the same.

On top of the money issue, burns scars are difficult to get rid of even with plastic surgery. Surgery can help somewhat but the skin is basically dead and it's hard to do anything in that instance.

The most reasonable assumption, is that what we saw was the best reconstruction that could be done.

I.E. he did have plastic surgery, and probably looked much worse before.

I agree with the previous poster he probably had surgeries on his face but plastic surgeries can only do so much.

Maybe he didn't want to have plastic surgery. It's just a movie, DagNabbit!
