Why did Kazuma shoot his sister Meigumi?

Just wondering why Kazuma killed his sister Meigumi at the end of the movie? Did he lose his sanity?
Thanks in advance for any input

I have no idea, in fact I came on here wondering the same thing. I think he did kind of go crazy and really just wanted her to stop running towards him, so he did the only thing he could from so far away. You should probably change the title of your post to question and then put a spoiler alert. Just a suggestion.

Well, to me this scene makes really no sense. I was like: WTF?
So, if somebody has a explaination...

all these films have WTF moments. you can read into it and think was he loyal to the gang, or racist, or a hypocrite or take her from this cruel world but it is done only for SHOCK value.

all of the reasoning is thrown out the window.

out of all the pink violence films i have seen, reason is thing that goes through the director and writers minds.

Major spoiler alert, there's nothing here for anyone who hasn't seen the movie!

I think there's two significant scenes there at the end. There's the shooting, of course. But earlier than that: when Kazuma is at the Mama Blues bar, after Meigumi's rape scene, he tells the mama-san to tell his sister to forget about him. I think he does that because he realizes that no possible good can come from everyone knowing that she is a half-breed. But of course it is too late, everyone already knows. But he's so out of his mind that he barely even notices when she arrives.

Another key to understanding this movie is the anti-gun message. There's a real message that guns are the last resort of pathetic, desperate men. And they don't actually solve problems, they create more problems. So the simple fact that Kazuma has a gun means that he will be unable to do anything useful or positive.

Anyway, these two facts together make it pretty clear that Kazuma has no idea what he's doing. He may think that he's protecting Meguimi by shooting her, because it's in her best interests to keep away from him. Or maybe it's punishment for her selfishly denying their relationship. Or maybe he is preventing her from being gang-raped again. But the fact that he fires off a few more shots afterwards points to him being absolutely out of his mind. One could almost say that she was caught in the crossfire, as she was basically an innocent bystander at that point.
