Spawn is terrible also seems to be a family film, at least Faust has a good dose of violence and a soundtrack devastating
lol no way. Spawn isn't fun, it's painful to sit through and hopelessly sanitized for the tween market. Faust is at least recklessly violence, full of T&A, and doesn't succumb to a ton of *beep* CGI.

Mmmm, unlikely. Both comics are inspired by the original Faust myth as are many many others, it's a common theme in literature. Obviously Faust is more of a modern interpretation where Spawn is just inspired by it, but neither would have been inspired by either's comic.
I would go so far as to say Mcfarlane's hatch filled art style and attempts at dynamism are influenced by Tim Vigil (Faust). The Spawn character is Bat/Spider/Ghost rider man AND some Faust for good measure.
Spawn is pretty Original in a 'ripped from everywhere' way, like Star Wars.
