is it me or does this movie have a VERY similar theme tune to puppet master??

No, the theme is a homage/ripoff (I don't know which one, I can't seem to find basic info on it) of the "Psycho" theme and it bugged me FOREVER because I couldn't figure it out.

I listened to the Puppet Master theme and it sounds different. I don't know if there is a certain track or something.

Sounds like a ripoff to me. I think the composer did a bit too much "borrowing" to consider it an homage.
