5.9?

WTF! 5.9? you have got to be kidding me! Now I'm not one to bitch about movies and troll boards and stuff. honestly. But this is just madness, this movie sucked major balls! And the acting was just bad beyond words, this is one of the most overrated movies I've come across so far on imdb, and yes, i do like the first one. The first one was f'ing classic. i give this 3.5 - 4/10

Yeah I agree that is a ridiculous rating. It's quite misleading. It made me think this movie would be decent, like Bride of Reanimator, but it wasn't. It was quite horrible.

The best is the original, as in most cases. How many people have heard that about any movie series, "the first is the best." Sometimes its not always the case.

I love old school gore fests, 80s horror are my favorites of the genre, films like from beyond, brain damage, evil dead 1&2 etc etc. this one however is not a good 80s horror, It's pure sh!t that was made in 2003. peace out

I'm also a big fan of 80'gorefest so i rate this 7/10 no less. People who don't like it should watch chick flicks like Zombieland.

Metal forever.............

reply

Just.. wow, Zombieland destroys this movie. Man seriously, the acting in this movie alone is enough to drop it from a score of say 6 down to 4.

Re-Animator 10/10
- One of the best horror comedies I've ever seen, only bestet by Evil Dead II. Stuart Gordon is a master!

Bride of Re-Animator 7/10
- Clearly not as thought through as the first, but some crazy gags and some nice gore saves it. Yuzna directs with his guts, Gordon with his brain.

Beyond Re-Animator 8/10
- Even more low-budget than the previous entries, though Filmax, Spain is hard to compare with Charles Band and Full Moon. Yuzna really gives this one the whole B-movie treatment, where nothing is to be taken too seriously. More fun than Bride, with a great pace but still nowhere near as classic as the original.

House of Re-Animator
- One can only hope.

reply

I only liked the first one, the second was so-so, and some scenes were just bad. So I'll pass this one.

I have to say that I love all 3 Re-Animator films equally. I love the re-animated penis, the monster rat (mind you, I love rats) and the half-bodied zombie.

"Hey! Ladies! That was fun!"

With you all the way. All three are vaguely equal for me. Different people will have different opinions of course, but some are a little more hipster-y than others.

"Was it good?"
"Umm, it was... okay..."
"It was made in 2003"
"IT SUCKS"

Even though this is years late, I wanted to respond for future readers. I think if the IMDB rating system allowed more freedom the score might be a little lower. Although I am a fan of the series, this one is better than Bride but not as good as the original. However, I had to score it the same. Had I been able to score more efficiently, I'd have probably scored Bride at 4.5 and Beyond at 5. Even though the acting is horrible in both cases, Combs is still exceptional as Herbert West, and he's the one we want to see anyway. In addition, this one advances the story where Bride was just silly.
