I agree, great!

All those quietly funny moments, such as the detective inspector, Hepburn, when he complains to a colleague about how his car got burglared and the police can't find the ones responsible, useless w*nkers all of them!

And Petula's weirdly hesitating speech pattern - "Det... insp... Hepburn", "So there's been no descript... admissions... fitting that description, then?" "No, he wasn't. I mean yes, he was. At first. But later on... he wasn't." With a hesitant but confident nod afterwards, to emphasize what she just said. Even if it wasn't really clear.

And Dorothy standing on the balcony, smoking, gun in hand, and that music playing (something about "I don't want a lover"?). And the cop on the bridge - "You're not contemplating doing anything stupid are you? It's a favourite spot, you know, for jumpers. Go home and take an overdose instead!"

And Petula out in the dark, listening to Dean Martin singing "Sway" on her walkman, smoking and singing along, while her boyfriend and his brother are shouting at each other indoors and you can hear that muffled shouting in the background.

I love it! The music, the mood, the colors, the quirky characters. The girls are such beautiful creatures, they have no plan really, they just play by ear, but they do it so well! Like Petula's reaction when she gets the ransom note, she goes from disbelief to playing along to taking control.

With the notable exception of the lovely music totally drowning out some of the dialogue, I was somewhat enjoying this until one moment: When the Det.Insp. is asked how much ransom has been demanded and he replies, "two million pounds" I totally cracked up and knew the rest of the ride was likely going to be really interesting and very funny. I mean, we already had our accidental novice crooks, a dead vile boyfriend, a living vile boyfriend, a vile boss, and now we add a vile filthy sleazy copper. Where is this going?
