AHH! translation?


I will start off by saying i love this movie lol. Not my favorite but i still like it alot.there a scene kinda early on when they are in the cabin (its night) and charlie goes up to brendan with a flash light, (brendans reading) and he says he shines the flash light in his face and after that i can barley undertsand annything they say... I"m soo sry If I'm just being slow and or stupid BUT if any one can undertsand it, and if it has any relivence please reply andtell me what they are saying lol... Again i might just be, being slow but also what is that word they saya few times that sounds like china? Chiner? maybe it was just before my time.... -i feel stupid.. THANK YOU! :)

I missed what he was saying during the flashlight scene also, but the reference to Chinaman is this... it's rhyming slang -- common in England and other parts of Britain also. China is short for China Plate, which rhymes with "mate" (like a friend). So China means friend. After Charlie explains that to Brendan in the bathroom scene, Brendan agrees that it is okay for Charlie to call him that.

I only caught the china meaning the second time through the movie.

I couldn't understand what was said during the flashlight/reading scene either. I know that Charlie said that Brendan could borrow it, but that was all I got.

I tivo'd the movie and I used the "flashback" feature many times to try to figure out what was just said. Unfortunately, the movie wasn't closed captioned either.
