I just saw the movie and was wondering if anyone has read the book and can say if its any good???

Yes, I read the book and I loved it. Behan's writing is really smooth and easy to read. It's not really like the movie at all though, if that's what you were expecting.

I just finished the book and I really liked it but like Capt. said it is nothing like the movie. Or should I say, the movie is nothing like the book. and I was confused and I kept wondering where the writer got have the story from and it's sort of ridiculous. I like them both but I wouldn't watch the movie to do a book report... unless you want to fail.

The book is great. I'd recommend it highly. You can buy it on Ebay for next to nothing. The movie is much different, but I prefer the book. ;)

The book is a widely acknowledged classic. The movie is a bit iffy and takes wild liberties.

The book is INFINITELY better than the movie, which sadly turns Behan's poetic freshness and love of people into a twisted "love" story.

I have both.

Yes, the book is better. If you just take the movie on its own (could be difficult if you've read the book multiple times) its not that bad. It is very different.
