Started the ghost hunting tv show craze?

Would you say this show pretty much started the whole paranormal / ghost hunter shows? I know it didn't start the ghost hunting craze but I mean the ghost hunting Tv shows. I had never seen a show like this before it aired then after it aired the ghost hunting show w/ the british chick started then ghost hunters and ghost adventures (with a few other short lived shows in between).
