Sunny Question

I'm hoping someone could clear this up....
So Sunny was responsible for Justin's death....but why in the early scenes when she goes to Justin's apartment and meets Carl for the first time, she's looking for Justin and shocked to find out that he's dead... surely she didn't expect him to have survived the fall.
did anyone else get confused with this or have I missed something?
