Rachel and Tobey's relationship ***SPOLERS***

This is an excellent movie, but the one thing that really got to me was the question as to what is the nature of Rachel and Tobey's relationship? During the poem scene, I got the impression that Tobey had feelings for her, and she was confused as to how she felt for him. (expressions shown while they were hugging) Next came the smiling scene. While Rachel was dancing with Jonathan, eye contact was made and smiles were exchanged. So, can anyone tell me or just take a stab in the dark?

I think they had sex before Johnathan came but they never worked out their feelings for each other. Toby says she's complicated and asks her that he hopes he didn't pressure her to do anything. I think when they cuddled, Rachel knows that he likes her and he really likes her but doesn't want her to know how much. Thats what I think that I could be wrong lol

I don't think they had any kind of relationship. He had a thing for her it's obvious but didn't know how to pursue it. He was truely messed up. She may or may not of had feelings for him. But when Johnathan came on the scene and was pursuing her I think he was in his sick little way trying to make a play for her.

Hmm. I don't think they had sex. They probably had like a budding friendship/little romance but it didn't go very far. And yes, when Johnathan came along, things got really complicated. Still, it didn't seemingly stop either of them from caring about one another.
