In the part with John and Rachel in her bedroom, are they having sex or is he just rubbing up against her? That part really threw me off....

*Milk was a bad choice!!!*

they were not actually having sex...she was so aroused by her own blood...it is what the dr and cillian talk about in his office, to me it sounded like the medical term was "sanctuary" but i don't think that's what he actually said

reply

Cillian says "have you ever heard of people seeing their own blood and getting excited?"
Doctor, "You mean, sexually? Yes, I've heard of it"
The doctor goes on to say, "be careful, Jonathan".
The thing is, Dr. Figure is probably the psychiatrist for both Cillian and the girl so the doctor knows exactly what Cillian is talking about.

I was thinking the same thing, itshappeningsofast. That part confused me, too.
When I first saw this scene, I was perplexed and even admittedly hot'n'bothered(thanks, Cillian). But, when she cut her arm, I was thinking, "The hell....? What's she doing to herself?". Then a little later, I kinda figured that she associated the blood and pain with sexual arousal and pleasure.

Honestly. I couldn't tell if they were having sex or he was rubbing against/on top of her! Judging from their movements and noises, they looked as if they were. Maybe they're dry humping. Not actual intercourse but probably just 'stimulating' eachother.

I agree, MissVaughn and listmanager. Her cutting herself and seeing her own blood gets her sexually excited. Perhaps, even during sexual activity.

I don't know. I guess this kind of left up to interpretation.

Btw, I reiterate, the scene was confusing yet very hott.
