This is a great black comedy. Since my Spanish is limited, it wasn't until the second time, when I didn't have to follow the subtitles as much, that I began to realize what a great comic actor Damian Alcazar is, with his hilarious facial expressions. But the prostitute was the funniest character.

Why is there so little discussion of this movie, compared to Whisky? I thought Whisky was unbearably slow and boring. La Ley de Herodes is a masterpiece.

Are there any other movies like this?

I agree with you, there should be more disscussion of this movie here and some of the symbolism.

The only movie I think is similar is Un Mundo Maravilloso. Same main actor, same director

la ley de herodes es definitavemente de las mejores peliculas mexicanas desde la epoca de oro, y no se por que no esta en el top 250 de Imdb

I agree this is a great movie - lots of truth in it. There's not a lot of discussion of it since it is too close to reality and truth never sells well (only under the guise of humor - parody) rather most like to live in a shell.

just saw this film and it is indeed very good. fascinating to watch the transformation of a "good man" and to see how far he would go. and how easy it was to corrupt him.

This is one of the best Mexican movies, also El Infierno is another of Estrada's great movies and with the same cast of La ley de Herodes, the topic is drug lords and the reality that sunks Mexico
