question

I've liked all the previous Ken Burns movies i've seen, but i'm not a particularly big fan of Jazz. will i like this documentary anyway?

I'm not a big jazz fan, but I liked it. (It was the same for me with 'Baseball'.)

There were complaints that it barely touches on post-1960 jazz - but I've got to say, I didn't care. For me, post-1960 jazz is like this:

Ken Burns's Jazz is an astounding piece of work. I saw it years ago, and two weeks ago got the bug to see it again. I ripped it and loaded it on my iPhone and am now watching it on my commute to work....I've just finished the 3rd episode and it is more amazing this time around (the enhanced audio experience of good headphones vs. tv viewing could be a factor and triples the experience.) It is more than Jazz, it is 20th Century history. Yes, I'm a fan of jazz and there were a few musicians given less then they deserved (Joplin, Reinhardt), but overall, incredibly absorbing.

Yes! I love all his stuff (except The Dust Bowl - too long, repetitious)
