Too bad this Drivel isn't Lost

I would rather have a reel of "Gold Diggers of Broadway" 1929
than this pathetic drivel .. a good film for brainless nationalists...

reply

Oh yeah, Gold Giggers of 1929 or whatever---now that's an example of superb film making!
Gimme a break...
Gold Diggers shows the thinking of the time in which it was made just like The Flag and it's no better or worse than The Flag.

Don't you get it? By 1927 everyone could see that WW2 was coming around the corner and they were already building up steam for that.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS MOVIE..

Gold Diggers was supposed to make you want to go out and buy a movie ticket. That is really important...Except now it just makes me go to sleep.

Get your head on straight and then go soak it.

Please forget film criticism and re-learn American history of the 20th century.
In 1927 the United States was strongly isolationist and not thinking of any future wars. We had, in fact just concluded some treaties that downsized American naval power. We remained isolationist until the bombs fell at Pearl Harbor. And even then we only declared war on Japan. Hitler unwittingly obliged Churchill by declaring war on us.

The Flag isn't a very good short but its main, if not sole interest is the early Technicolor. Here, Technicolor demonstrated that it ould produce deep blues and bright reds by altering the color balance of its imbibition matrices.

I found this early technicolor short fascinating,to say the least. The clothes, makeup, acting was bit eerie, but interesting to me,as a person who loves early film making.

I like historical fiction, but YEAH! This is the first time I felt that TCM let me down.....
