Is this the movie...?

My memory is slighty erractic, but I remember a harrowing scene in a Australian high security prison film. Inmates escape and a riot breaks out in the prison, I remember a security/prison warden getting ambushed by an inmate and getting stabbed, like 20 + times. I seem to recall the warden in a white shirt lying in a huge pool of blood. From what I can remember the scene is quite prolonged, the warden had already been killed from the onset of the attack but is still stabbed incessantly in the frenzy, nethertheless.

I have done some research and the only film that it could be is 'Chopper'. I have read the message boards for that film but this scene isn't really mentioned in detail. I remember this scene culminating near the end of the movie and leaving a powerfull image, although the 'Chopper' messageboards depicts something about a frenzied stabbing happening near the beginning? Can someone help me fill in the gaps? Cheers!

nah your probably thinking of a differnt film. The scene in chopper depicts chopper reid entering the ward walking up to a fellow inmate and stabbing him about 10 times in the face and neck, i think he is wearing a white shirt though. There is no riot but the inmate kiethy george does lie in a huge pool of blood but again he is still alive and saying "your sick reid, ya bash people for no reson reason just to make a name for yourself". If you remember the stabber giving the stabbie a cigerette then it most propbaly is chopper. hope this helps.

Hey man, your thinking about "Ghost's Of The Civil Dead", written by Nick Cave. That the only Australian prison movie I know about. A great *beep* movie. "Chopper" is pretty damn' good as well though.

Hey Knuts, Thanks a million man! I have been trying to hunt this movie down for ages but couldn't think for the life of me what it was called. Chopper was the only Australian prison film that was coming up. I have checked out the messageboards and "Ghosts of the civil dead" is definately the movie I was on about! I will hunt it down and re-live the horrific memories. I will also check out Chopper, cos it's sounds like a great movie too - Thanks again, Mate!

Enjoy the film, it sure is great.

Are you a fan of "The Proposition" by the way? Another great Australian film.

I've heard of it but haven't watched it yet, you recommend it - More violence?
I'm actually a great fan of Aussie/NZ cinema, although I live in the UK. Are you Australian? I'm a big fan of dark, horror, violent, cult fims.

So far have seen from Australia/New Zealand: -
Mad Max trilogy
Bad Taste (Peter Jackson)
Braindead (Peter Jackson)
Heavenly Creatures (Peter Jackson)
Romper Stomper
Once were warriors
Long weekend (supernatural horror)
Razorback (giant killer pig)
Rabbit proof fence
Wolf creek
The chant of Jimmy Blacksmith
Picnic at hanging rock
Ghosts of the civil dead (Now that you have reminded me!)

Thats all I can think of, apart from 'The Proposition' any more dark, cult films you recommend watching?

Hey man, nah I'm from Norway :)

"The Proposition" is really dark and very violent. But it's also very poetic and moving. A masterpiece, you should check it out. In my opinion it's one of the best films of the new millennium.

Another favorite Aussie movie of mine is the thriller "The Last Wave", what an amazing movie that is. It's not violent, but it's really bleak and scary. A classic in it's own right.

Other good Aussie movies....hmmm, have you seen "Breaker Morant" and "Gallipoli"?? Drama/war movies but both are really, really good. And yes, violent ;)

Have you seen "Chopper" yet by the way? it really kicks ass.

Ok and a few more. Have you seen a British movie called "Dead Man's Shoes"?? what a great *beep* movie! You will love it. It's a low budget indie revenge flick. Violent and gritty, with a killer soundtrack. Also one of the best films of the new millennium.

And since you like really dark and violent "cult films", have you seen "Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia" by the mighty Sam Peckinpah? That's my all time favorite film.

Ok, I'll shut up now ;)
