uncut and letterboxed?

I would love to get an uncut and letterboxed copy of Nonhosonno but the US release from Artisan (as Sleepless, blah!) is sorely wanting ... where can I get the real thing?

i thought this was a really sweet movie. argento keeps his style.
i do agree about the first train scene being some of the best of the movie.
but the children`s book of rhymes idea was pretty spooky too.
i can see why it was sort of a rip off of some of argentos earlier stuff, but it at least was an enjoyable rip off.
and werent we all asking for it?

Probably too late to help you, but the R2 Italian DVD from Medusa is uncut and letterboxed, with English and Italian soundtracks (and English subtitles). The German version (which comes with the soundtrack CD and is currently going very cheap on Amazon.de) is letterboxed but is very heavily cut by several minutes.

"Gentlemen, is this a great moment or a small one? I'm afraid I don't know."

"I can see why it was a rip off of some of Argento's earlier stuff.."

How can somebody rip THEMSELVES off? That's like saying I just stole 10 bucks out of my own wallet.. It seems what the director did here was attempt a return to form, revisiting his earlier style, which was when his films were at their artistic peak. and I'm sure a lot of fans are grateful for this nod to the old style...

"IMdB; where 14 year olds can act like jaded 40 year old critics...'

^ This. Glad I'm not the only one that sees that. Argento just can't win with his fans. They get pissed off when he does something too different (Two Evil Eyes, Stendhal Syndrome, Phantom) but then he's labeled a 'rip-off' when he goes back to his original style.

Region 4 is dubbed only though

reply

There is a Region 3 uncut out there. Its under the name "SLEEPLESS". Anamorphic 1.85. Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES. 6.1. Chinese and English Subtitles. The audio and picture is amazing. Way better than the Artisan
fullscreen crap.

A British DVD company called M.I.A. Video has released SLEEPLESS aka NON HO SONNO in a 2 DVD disc set in a English language, uncut anamorphic widescreen version with 5.1 Dolby Digital Stereo Sound on the first disc with the trailer of the film in Italian, a featurette on the making of the film in Italian with English subtitles, photo gallery and an Argento biography and filmography. The second disc has the excellent recent Argento documentary, "Dario Argento-An Eye For Horror" with a stills galery of Argento's films. So far this is the best DVD version of SLEEPLESS ina complete uncut widescreen version and 10 times better than the version released by Artisan!
