The train scene or the Swan scene?

What is your favorite murder scene in SLEEPLESS?

The train scene is overall considered by most people like one of Argento's most impressive scenes in many, many years!

The editing, use of music, use of space, overall direction is impressive in this scene...very creepy!

BUT i love too the Swan scene with the beautiful camerawork tracking the carpet...awesome idea, and great soundtrack too!!

It's a hard decision for me. That train scene is a great, pulse pounding scene that's sort of an interesting marriage between Argento's 80 thrillers and the modern thriller. And I must say that bit of finger removal in that scene with that clean motion of the knife is a classic Argento moment. The music is great, but I prefer how it sounds on the soundtrack to its arrangement in the film.

The Swan scene is a very interesting one. Similar in concept to a certain scene from Tenebre but probably more effective. The gory denouement is very phony looking but for some reason it disturbs the hell out of me.

I'm not a huge fan of this film (comparing it to Argento's other works) but these two moments are real standouts in Argento's career. I think we're going to get another one in La Terza Madre with Coralina's insanely gory demise....it looks like one of Argento's most brutal scenes.

Yes,the opening scene of the film is said to be pretty impressive!
There's also another great scene near the end of the film, according to many people who have seen the film: it's a long steadycam shot following Asia Argento in a house...

The train scene without a doubt. From the time we hear the Killer say "I've killed Lots of people",then in a mad dash the hooker knocks over the table to reveal those nasty knives to the thumping cue of a Loud goblin score that leads her to the death train remains one of Argento's more stylish openings ever.

Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead

Too bad the train actress is extremely poor.

I found her to be especially great. Her look and performance was mezmerizing IMO. You sure you weren't just put off by the horrible dubbing they did on her for the English version of this?

My favourite scene is actually the "cat" murder; one of Argento's most thrilling and unnerving set-pieces.

I also really liked the "rabbit" murder too; short but definitely to the point.

Sleepless doesn't contain especially memorable murder scenes for me, though it's a fantastic film. I like both for different reasons: the train is frenetic and the shots as she runs through the train fantastic. I loved the woman squeezing in the rubber connectors of carriages - what a great idea! Why did she emerge - idiot! But agree that the hoovering of the carpet and the shadow of the ballerina being hoisted before being beheaded was brilliantly built and more startling - you know something is coming but because the focus is on the carpet you have no idea what. Whereas with the train it's more obvious.
