- A puppet is used to distract someone's attention.
- A family member of the murderer trying to protect him/her ends up losing his life.
- A nursery rhyme is a clue to solve the series of murders.
- A chopped body part still moving scene.

What else?

Haven't seen them in a long time. Wasn't an old deserted house a key setting in both?

Oh, yeah, that's right.
And I have to add this:

- The same actor, Gabriele Lavia, played the role of the family member of the murderer who tried to protect him/her but ended up losing his life.
