First and foremost, Memories of Murder (2003) is a must see, even though it's more of a dramatic thriller. World of Silence (2006) is another very good one.
As far as straight-up thrillers are concerned, the following is a list of good South Korean entries to check out:
The Chaser (2008) The Return (2007) Save the Green Planet (2003) Diary of June (2005) A Bloody Aria (2006) The Scarlet Letter (2004) H (2002)
The point is to recommend other good Korean thrillers since y'know, this film right here was a Korean thriller. Dunno how you couldn't understand that.
I'm pretty sure a fan of The Godfather would be pretty well-aware of its sequels, whereas obscure South Korean thriller films that most people outside of Korea don't even know about isn't gonna share the same popularity.
So did you just decide to read the one part of my post and reply to it? Or as I said are you just totally dense?
Obscure tends to be a term used for something that is relatively hard to find or get a hold of. All the movies mentioned in this thread are relatively well known. Especially for fans of the country and genre.
People name drop things that shouldn't be named dropped, people call them out on it, and effin knobs are too dense to realize when both of those things are happening.
*knocks on your head*
Wise up.
Wrong to say that I am giving up, right to say that I ain't showing up.
Wow really, FANS of the country and thus things from said country would be more likely to know about stuff like this? I had no idea first grade logic worked that way.
Obscure doesn't just mean "hard to find or acquire". It also means things that are "out of sight", in this case, typical "outsiders" and people who don't worship Korea wouldn't really just hear of South Korean thriller films in everyday conversation, even if the specific topic of thrillers got brought up.
Your original post was pointless, you assuming just because someone knows of this film that they'd automatically know of every other SK film ever made. This thread is still relevant to discussion of the film.
Do love the fact everything I say is taken literally and yet you can say I said everyone that has heard of this movie has heard of every other South Korean movie ever made is pretty chuckle worthy as well though.
Suffice to say if you aren't going to address the words I actually say and instead just do a copy and paste job that is pretty damn tarded.....
Well why not just reply to nothing at all?
Wrong to say that I am giving up, right to say that I ain't showing up.
Please check out Memories of Murder. There is pretty much no gory in the film, but lots of suspense. The movie contains some funny comic-relief as well. Korean suspense/horror fims are slowly becoming my favorite genre.
I went through a lot of searching to find more films like these, and there's a good number of them that you also might like. Just let me know if you need any reccomendations. :)
Also, AsiaTorrents is a great site to find any of these online, although it requires you to sign up (but this is as simple as creating a new account on IMDb).
Sadly none exist o DVD here!! I'm terrible at torrent stuff but some pals are good and I'lll ask them if they can locate for me! Thanks for the shouts!!! You might find some good thrillers on my ratings too, I've seen a lot of obscure stuff and kinda picky- if i give something a 7 it means i loved it! ...
