Fermeture des usines Renault à Vilvoorde (1998)

Fermeture des usines Renault à Vilvoorde is also a docu-drama but it shows more the social revolt on the street after the closure of the car-factory in Belgium.
Ressources Humaines is a naturalistic account of a working-class family in France. Renault Vilvoorde is the movie about the struggle of the labor-unions to save the work of 3000 working people. The factory in Ressources Humaines is not so big and the upheaval is not so militant. It is interesting to see both movies from the same period and to compare them.

Thank you. That does sound interesting.
Do you know whether the 35-hour work week is currently in effect in France?
The ending of Human Resources is unresolved. What do you think would happen to Franck?

By random chance I finished Oil for the Lamps of China (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026805/) earlier today, and while they are not remotely similar structurally (what do you expect from a 30s movie) there are some striking thematic similarities in workers (finally) understanding what the big bad corporation is really like.

If you are interested in such topics, try to figure out a way to see the old film. It shows up on TV (TCM for one) periodically.
