After searching, I found this:

daniel - hebrew name meaning "my judge is the Lord"

Actually, that´s more common than we suppose. Just to get an ordinary - and obvious - example, in "The Matrix", each character´s name has a biblical reference.

Ele fez da queda um passo de dança, do medo uma ponte, da procura um encontro.
Fernando Sabino

And each biblical reference has a Kabalistic reference and a code reference from the Amber Tablets of Hession.

Nothing exists more beautifully than nothing.

Thomas was the apostle who didn't believe that Jesus had risen from the dead until he met him, hence the phrase "Doubting Thomas".

And all these years I thought he was the reincarnation of Jack Benny.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

As I watched I caught on to the "Tomas" as twin allusion; not speaking Spanish very unfortunately for me, I wondered what the last name Sanz translates as. As a Romance language I wondered if the French (which I do read and barely speak) sans, would be applicable so in other words, Tomas' name meant "without twin" or loosely, "unique"??

A website states that Sanz is derived from Sancho and means "true" derived from sanctu meaning holy but in everyday Spanish translates as true. Another site says that Sanchez means "sanctified".

From various other postings here about the original post, seems likely that the writer was intending a "christ-figure" story, which would be hard to deny.

I liked the film, will watch again, but I only gave it a 7/10 rating.
