Baking vs Cooking?
I've heard and read some Chefs exclaim their hatred of baking. Is this just a personal preference or is there a general trend amongst Chefs that baking is their least favorite aspect of preparing food?

I think it is a general trend. Baking is more difficult than just cooking, and doesn't lend itself as well to improvisation. If you're off a little on the proportion of ingredients, the character of your baked goods can change completely. There's a lot less flexibility in baking than there is in an ordinary recipe.
shareCooking is an "Art". Baking is a "Science".
Most Chefs don't want to measure, adding a bit of this, a bit of that, then season to taste. Baking you have to measure and follow a recipe or else it won't turn out right.
