Suggest me some cool anime please!

Hi guys I've been posting on a few anime boards I'd like some people to recommend me some anime that you think I might like. Being as you're all posting in this board I'm guessing you liked Cyber City which means you probably like the same anime as me. Here are some of the anime's that I've seen and really liked;

Berserk
Devilman (my first and still my favourite anime of all time)
Guyver (probably my next favourite, and yes I have seen the new series)
Ninja Scroll
Street Fighter The Animated Movie
3x3 Eyes
Crying Freeman
Angel Cop
Wicked City
Monster City
Fist Of The North Star (not too fussed on it but it was ok)
Cyber City: Oedo 808
Violence Jack
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

Note, I have seen a load of others such as Akira, Neon Genesis Evagelion etc but I just didn't like them. One thing you should know is that I hate mecha anime so please don't suggest anything like that. I'm a little bit fed up of all the new style of anime, I saw Elfen Lied recently which was alright, but no-where NEAR as enjoyable as anything in that list. So if you think there's a classic that I haven't seen, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I'd recommend Spriggan, an anime based on the Striker manga. They picked the best story from the manga novels in my opinion although I feel the characters are more balanced in the manga (Perhaps maybe because I experienced that first). I have Spriggan on Region 2 DVD, so you should be able to find it quite easily.

Appleseed and Battle Angel Alita are a good pair of cyberpunkish anime. You can get them both on one DVD too, if I remember rightly.
Might also want to look into Goku: Midnight Eye, which was made by the same team as Cyber City, though it's not quite as good in my opinion.

Some other cool anime are:
Ai No Kusabi
Soryuden
Devil Man
Kizuna
Inuyasha
Akira
Gundam Wing
Cyber City Oedo 808
The Guyver

Hi Kung Fu Master Uk
When you mentioned Fist of North star i hope you saw the movie, the series is complete pants.
I reccomend some oldies but what i think are classics,

Space Adventure Cobra - Fun,Weird,Entertaining eighties manga, great soundtrack.

Iria - Great animation but slightly geared towards kids,

Vampire Wars - Great action and funny dialogue,

Genocyber - Good action,

Urotsokidoji, legend of overfiend - Obscene and Crazy Anime, well pervy,

I agree with you about the new styles of anime, several years ago odd and weird but interesting types of anime would turn up on release schedules here, but its like now they are targeting a specific type of viewer and are releasing the same sort of stuff over and over again. Have to say that you seem to have seen most of the classics, your list covers a lot of stuff.

One of ya said Akira is good.

I disagree.

Akira IN MY Opinion, was totally boring.

Want good Anime?

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie.

Also Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust

And Demon City Shinjuku

Nuff said for now.

i loved cyber city oedo, probably the best manga i have ever seen. Oh yeah thanks for that space adventure cobra recommendation it fantastic. So if you like the same type of old skool manga i do and/or havent had enough suggestions so far here are some more:

Samurai champloo
M.D Geist
A.D police (the old one not the terrible new one)
Tank police (the old one not the terrible new one)
Golgo 13
And... i cant believe no one has mentioned DEVILMAN LADY, If you liked devilman, which was a superb manga, then you must see this!

thats all i think of, that has not already been mentioned right of the top of my head for now. Enjoy :)

Demon City Shinjuku is the same thing as Monster City. Monster City was the uk video title.

It's funny that the original list is pretty much all the old UK Manga videos I managed to find during the 90s.

I know this is a slightly old thread but i came across a couple of awesome recent animes series that i thought you lot might like, these two new series have re-ignighted my interest in new anime,

First is Heat Guy J - Buddy cop series, one cop one robot, not so original but very very stylish and great stories, best soundtrack i have ever heard for an anime and fun dialogue,

Second is Afro Samurai - Samurai series but with a black lead, first manga or anime that i can think of with a black lead, also the american dub is done by Samuel L Jackson which makes it just totally awsomely cool!! Great animation too, nice uber violence involved!!

check out if you can, i think afro samuari is on bravo or sci fi channel at the moment,

cheers,

One Anime to see before you die is Cowboy Bebop the Series, (The film is good, but not as much as this baby) Apart from that Gunsmithcats and Riding Bean, It would take ages to list the stuff I've seen over the years, I got into it when I was 12 and I'm 29 now.

This might be a bit off topic but I was looking for a Manga/Anime were there is a scene with a guy that looks like Sengoku with the officer lady look and soundalike like (Okio) killing an alien like thing out of Aliens, before the alien attacks the lady says "I think your going the wronge way" which the guy replys to "the only thing going the wrong way is your vibrator", last seen this in 1995 (animation styling similar cyber city), any help would be much appriciated.

Thanks.

wicked city?

reply

Definately not Wicked City, It was also set in space, thanks anyway.

If you like mid 90's OVAs (which most of them are awesome) You should try watching Birdy the mighty (with the same director of Cyber city) Kamui no Ken, and if you like retro, then maybe Crusher Joe.
