WHY Did This Show End?!

Okay, I understand that the acting was a little less than superior, but I mean really, after one season and they it's curtains?
That's a bit annoying to me.
It had a great plot, interesting character chemistry, KATHERINE MOENNIG (need I say more?).

And yes, they did not look like teenagers of 2000, nor did they have flaws like everyday teenagers (like myself). Regardless, I love this show.

Agreed?

I watched this a million times as a teen. I even taped it on video! I downloaded it recently and have watched all the episodes today. I get what you mean about character chemistry, there is a lot more depth to the characters and reactions from the characters are a lot more humble than characters on smutty teen shows like The OC, Gossip Girl, 90210. Young Americans is about teens finding themselves through friendships, hardships and education. It inspired me as a teen to read more literature, to never judge a book by its cover, to believe that anything is possible. It certainly is raw, but I think that's its charm.

I wish they had done more because I had a thing for the guys; Mark Famiglietti, Rodney Scott and Ian Somerhalder (in that order)!
But to be fair, if they had made another series, I don't think it would have been as good. Look at programmes like Dawson's Creek, it is great but it feels like it just goes on and on and on and on. Young Americans is short but sweet, to the point, a snippet of summertime life as a rich kid and as a poor kid.

It was only meant as a summer show unfourtuanley.
I quite liked it and still have all the eps on tape.
Would love to see it released on DVD though. By the sound of it still has a devoted fan base.

Basically, though it was a summer show. Much like Grey's Anatomy was only intented to be 8 eps long over the summer.
But that became a hit, and we still have it.

And blessbabe, if yu love Mark, check out a show he did before Hang Time. That is quite good as well.

Every time I watch it I ask myself the same thing, the plot was a lot more interesting than any other TEEN show! sad it ended and no one tried to do something about it :(

Truthfully, the marketing sucked. I was a loyal Dawson's Creek watcher (I was the same age as the characters and never missed a show). I remember this series being advertised, but it wasn't done well and there was never any mention of the DC connection. I probably noticed that "Will" was in it, but the WB was not shy about using actors in their shows as guest stars and then snapping them up and moving them to a new series by the next fall season (Scott Foley, Chad Michael Murray, etc.), so I had no idea this was actually a spinoff. It would have generated more interest if that had been spelled out from the beginning.
