Another connection?

What about the obvious connection to "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" with Paul Newman and Robert Redford?
They were also America's most famous/successful bankrobbers, which is what the Sleepover Bandits were referred to.
They were thought of as "Robin Hood's" stealing from the government, just like Terry and Joe.
They also travelled with a female partner, whom they both had relations with, just like Terry and Joe.
Etc., etc....
When I watched this movie, I couldn't help but to compare it to "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." It appeared to me that they were trying to modernize the story of Butch and Sundance. Even the final confrontation in the end appears to be a theory of how Butch and Sundance escaped the authorities (they probably did not do it this way though). I was surprised to see that nobody had mentioned this comparison.

Earlier thread mentions "The Sting." Maybe you are mixing them up?
