Uncreative Plagarism

The movie is a total ripoff from Noel Coward's Design for Living about two men and the woman who wants to be in love with them both, and, after disappearing for a short while, ends up in a menage a trois. Design for Living was filmed, pre-code, in 1933 with Gary Cooper, Frederick March and Miriam Hopkins, adapted by Ben Hecht. But, while Hecht's screenplay took vast liberties with the stage play, unlike Bandit's writer, Harley Peyton, Hecht gave credit where credit was due. It is infuriating to me how so many people in Hollywood appropriate other people's work and call it their own.

Actually, it's an hommage to Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid (Willis/Thornton/Blanchett substituted for Newman/Redford/Ross). And Noel Coward did not invent the love triangle.
