This is a complete mystery. Not including marketing costs this movie cost 90 million dollars to make. Can someone tell me where that moulah went?? It doesn't make sense. Thats three million dollars less then The Fellowship of the ring. It only made 40 million in the US so it didn't even break even.

Alot of the sets in FOTR were in New Zealand and didnt need alot of special effects.
sharein the lotr seiries the majority of the sets were minatures as well and they had a lot of volunteer extras for the battle scenes to cut down on cgi.
