THIS COST 90 MILLION DOLLARS

This is a complete mystery. Not including marketing costs this movie cost 90 million dollars to make. Can someone tell me where that moulah went?? It doesn't make sense. Thats three million dollars less then The Fellowship of the ring. It only made 40 million in the US so it didn't even break even.

reply

the $$$$$, most likely, went to the salary of the actors. The leading actors are big stars after all. and The fact that the FOTR cost only 80 million is amazing. That film had special effects galore and the sets looked expensive...i mean rivendell, the shire............wait sorry, wrong post....

reply

I geuss some of the money went into stunts like the dump truck scene...but 90 million! Holy jesus!

Where are you getting your facts from?
Sounds like you're trying to start a rumor for attention.

And from the us and worldwide figures, it looks it might have broken even.
Total US Gross $41,523,271
Production Budget $75,000,000
Worldwide Gross $41,523,271

reply

Surely the above numbers can't be right either. Worldwide Gross the same as US Gross? Major mistake. There was definitely a lot of Aussies parting with their cash to see Cate in this awesome movie.

reply

According to Box Office Mojo, the film cost about 75 million to make plus 20 million in marketting cost. It made 41 million domestic and just 26 million overseas, totaling 67 million. It didn't come close to breaking even.

your a dumb *beep* do some research! the movie bandits was not a best seller but they made more then they deserve. the real joeseph doughtrey is my father. hes got 60 years for robbing banks, and made no money off this movie.

Mkpelto... are you retarded? I don't think he should be trying to bust his father out of jail... I'm sure he loves his father as much as he should, and in case you haven't noticed jail breaks are harder than they look in movies. Those movies you recommended are useless. Breaking out of jail is a lost cause, it only gets you in deeper sh*t. At least recommend some good jail break movies, it Andy in Shawshank Redemption 20 years to break out of jail.
If you love the world you will never post on the internet ever again.

reply

the director alone made a cool $10 million on this project.

reply

busting dad outta jail would be more constructive than whining that his jailbird dad dint get any hollywood payday.

reply

*obvious spoiler ahead*

i'm confused. if this movie is based on your father, why is he in jail when the guys in the movie escaped at the end?

Tomorrow's just your future yesterday!

reply

Interestingly, I just read in another thread where you said he got 23 years... pick a story and run with it.
By the way, it's against the law for convicts to make money from their crimes.

He's your father and you don't even know how to spell his name? This movie is very loosely based on JOSEPH DOUGHERTY, not JOESEPH DOUGHTREY.

Anyone who has a subscription to the NY Times can read the full story at http://www.nytimes.com/1985/09/05/us/2-robbers-hunted-in-midwest.html I don't have a subscription, and I'm not going to buy one just to read more of this nonsense.

Alot of the sets in FOTR were in New Zealand and didnt need alot of special effects.

reply

in the lotr seiries the majority of the sets were minatures as well and they had a lot of volunteer extras for the battle scenes to cut down on cgi.

reply

u know that making cgi required 1 fat dude and lots of computers and time, right?

in reality cgi is much easier and faster to make then robotics or anything else the industry did offer befor this stupid cgi galore wich feels like fake doodoo
